The Albatross: transferrable tax credits can offset a passive income tax liability

Seattle-area investors and advisors... I'm hosting a mini-conference at Stoup Brewing in Capitol Hill. 馃憞馃憞馃憞馃憞

A friend introduced me to Jason Prince at Giraffe Financial, a clean energy tax credit transfer and compliance platform.

I had mistakenly thought that Trump's OBBBA had gutted the transferrable tax credit initiative introduced in Biden's IRA, but, if anything, clean energy direct pay and credit transfers seem to be expanding, according to Jason.

Investors can often purchase clean energy tax credits at something like $0.85 per $1.00 of tax credit and use them to offset a passive income tax liability that might come from something like rental property income.

This is a fascinating corner of tax planning that doesn't get enough daylight, and I'm grateful to Jason for getting me up to speed.
